It's looking a bit steamy in there now. Is there any condensation puddling on the floor. I see that they are starting to brace some of the combs to the glass now. When you are handling the combs during an inspection and they are that long, do they feel unstable? I wonder how this would have worked if you had used deep litter on the floor to create an eco floor. It should work well to buffer the humidity and also keep the substrate moist to support beneficial insects and microbes. Would it create problems with small hive beetle?.... I forget about those because we don't have them yet.

Barbara, I'm so sick of you always raising such good points and ideas !!! Rolling Eyes

So there was no moisture on the floor or windows on this inspection. Any residue you see is from prior moisture buildup from months ago. I'm not saying it won't become an issue again this summer, but I think I may have alleviated the issue with better ventilation. Crossing fingers.

The queen only made one appearance, to my knowledge. I just added that same appearance at the very end but slowed it down...lol. I sound like a drunk hillbilly.

Regarding the eco-floor. I think it's a fantastic idea in this particular setting. My only concern is the hive beetles. I wonder how much that would be an issue. It could potentially be disastrous, but maybe not depending on what materials are used.

I think I may have to split them soon. A good problem to have, aye?

The queen accidentally makes a very brief appearance.
