First, the BBKA retweeted some propaganda from Bayer:
https://twitter.com/Bayer4CropsUS/status/892015242754097152 ( look up @britishbee to find the retweet ).
Then kiwimana retweeted the following nonsense about how wonderful capitalism treats bees, and in particular, how good migratory pollination services in the US are for bees : https://twitter.com/kiwimanabuzz/status/892461429470756864, from the "Property and Environment Research Centre".
In different ways, people who should know better are giving a voice to people who are saying "just carry on as we are and everything will be fine". |

I'm not into all this social media stuff, but I know how easy it can be to innocently get drawn into something that appears to be so worthwhile because it has been given a good dose of "spin"
That said, I am not naïve enough to believe that the BBKA are not aware of what they are doing.
Simple answer is not to follow of course or perhaps to challenge, so that others are at least tipped off to make an informed decision on what is being peddled. |

One could say today's "social media" by nature of the particpants
shares the features of a meterogical (sp?) event - Cirrus Cloud.
Thin, high flying and gone before it came.
Well, that is _my take_ on it, and in staying away from it I can
chuckle at the likes of Trump and his foobars.
Best ignored... IMO :-)
Cheers.
Bill

One of the benefits of being a moderator is that I can edit other people's posts and whilst we sadly don't have a "thumbs up" or "like" facility on the forum, I can take advantage of my status to give this post a big
THUMBS UP
Hope nobody reports me for abuse of authority  |

Conserving wild bees
Research suggests that bumble bee boxes have a very low success rate in actually attracting bees into them. We find that if you create an environment where first of all you can attract mice inside, such as a pile of stones, a drystone wall, paving slabs with intentionally made cavities underneath, this will increase the success rate.
Most bumble bee species need a dry space about the size a football, with a narrow entrance tunnel approximately 2cm in diameter and 20 cm long. Most species nest underground along the base of a linear feature such as a hedge or wall. Sites need to be sheltered and out of direct sunlight.
There is a spectacular display of wild bee hotels here
